About the Association

The Israel Association for International Studies (IAIS) is an independent and a-political association, which encompasses academic staff, researchers, practitioners and research students from Israeli higher education institutions. The IAIS was established to promote and engage with the issues relating to the teaching and researching the field of international studies, as well as to strengthen the dialogue between the academia and the policy and security communities in Israel. The IAIS wishes also to strengthen its relations with other international association. The IAIS welcomes every individual, who accepts the association's goals and pays the annual fees.

 

Prizes & Awards

The Prize in Memory of Doctor Gil Friedman

In the annual convention an award in memory of Doctor Gil Friedman is given to the best paper in the field of international studies, broadly defined. Students from an Israeli higher education institution are invited to apply. The paper will be reviewed by a committee, which consists of IR experts from Israeli universities. Applicants are requested to send three copies of their paper and a cover letter with their complete details. The application deadline is no later than two months prior to the annual convention. Joining the Internship Program

The association holds an internship Program for IR and Political Science students who wishes to volunteer for assignments. In the program the students are invited to assist with various projects conducted by the association. During the internship the volunteers are exposed to various activities, such as: managing institution co projects, assisting and managing conventions, writing and editing position papers, information management and project management. Currently, only postgraduate students may join the program. To apply, please send CV, recommendation letter and an accompanying letter specifying the candidate expectations. Becoming a member of the association

To join as a member to the association, please send a request to the following address:

Haifa University, Mount Carmel, Haifa, 31905, Professor Beny Miller, IR department.

The application should include the following details: full name (first and last), ID#, address, mailing address and email address. The application must include yearly membership fees (50 NIS for a student and 150 NIS for non students) in form of a check. For additional information, please contact the association secretary.

 

Joining the honors research students work groups

The work groups are writing position papers, with the assistance of specialists from research institutions and universities in Israel. The participants are invited to lectures and seminars at various research institutes and are being exposed to actual work being done in their chosen field of research. Honors research students from IR, Security and Political Science are welcome to apply for joining the program. The work groups will be dealing in the following research fields in 2011: Nuclear Weapons, Security and Technology, International / Global arbitration and Diplomacy.

Association Website Forum manager

You are welcome to apply for forum manager position on the Association's Website. A forum manager is responsible for publishing posts at chosen IR subjects. In addition the manager assists the forum participants in creating a research community in that specific field. To apply, please send CV, recommendation letter and an accompanying letter specifying the candidate vision of the forum.

 

Joining the Website writers

The association invites researchers to submit position papers to be published in the website forums. The articles should be 5 or less pages long. Please send the articles in a Word format adding full writer's details, writers position and details of communication. If necessary, additional information will be requested.

 

Volunteers

The association welcomes volunteers wishing to contribute to the association activities, in addition, volunteers are welcome to join the associations' postgraduate students internship program. The volunteers will be exposed to various activities, such as: managing institution co projects, assisting and managing conventions, writing and editing position papers, information management and project management. The volunteers will join several projects that are being conducted in the educational and organizational fields. We will do our outmost to comply with volunteers requests for activities.
